About me
Howdy Folks my name is BJ Lewis, I'm one of 3 science teachers here at Jones Senior High School in eastern, NC. I am originally a "mountain man" from western North Carolina, Ashe County to be exact, (that's that little notch where Virginia and Tennessee meet). I moved down east to New Bern after graduating as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology, Secondary Education and hold certifications to teach all secondary sciences. I thoroughly enjoy being close to the ocean but I do miss some of the beautiful scenery of the mountains. My time here at JSHS has been extremely successful and a tremendously rewarding experience, I could not ask to live and work in a more wonderful place. Lets hope that the 2010-2011 school years goes even better!!!!!
More recent news.. October 7 2009- We ( My girlfriend and I) welcomed our first child Cicero Aaron Lewis into the world
Summer 2010.. Not only did we permanently establish ourselves in ENC by buying our first house in Craven County but I also worked for Weyerhauser Co as a Teacher On Summer Assignment (TOSA) at their Cool Springs Environmental Education Center in New Bern, NC. This was a fantastic experience performing research on reptile and amphibian populations in cypress swamps and mixed hardwood forests, not to mention the incredible heat and humidity !
